When Is It Time To Outsource Your Video Content

The Benefits of Partnering with a Video Production Company for Your Marketing and Content Teams

In today's fast-paced digital world, creating compelling video content is crucial for capturing and keeping your audience's attention. For internal marketing and content teams, consistently producing high-quality videos can be challenging, demanding a lot of time, resources, and expertise. This is where partnering with a professional video production company can make all the difference. Here’s why this could be a smart move for some and how it can help your company save significant time and money.

Tap into Expertise and Cutting-Edge Technology

Video production companies come with a team of experts who specialize in everything from scriptwriting and storyboarding to filming, editing, and post-production. They also have the latest technology and equipment, ensuring top-notch quality for your videos. By leveraging their expertise, your internal team can skip the steep learning curve and heavy investment needed to produce professional-grade videos in-house. For instance, when we partner with the Philadelphia 76ers on their content needs, they’re not only getting my team but they’re getting a full equipment package that otherwise would cost them tens of thousands of dollars and months of time learning how to use each piece of equipment.

A Cost-Effective Approach

Hiring a full-time in-house video production team is expensive. It involves not just salaries but also the cost of equipment, software, and ongoing training to keep up with industry trends. By partnering with a video production company, you can turn these fixed costs into variable costs, paying only for the services you need, when you need them. This flexibility can result in significant cost savings and better budget management. When we enter a project, we’re typically brought on for a single day, or up to a 3-month period. This allows the teams we’re partnering with to strategically structure our schedule with their schedule to make sure we tackle any excess needs exactly when they need.

Save Time and Boost Efficiency

Video production is time-consuming, requiring careful planning and execution. Internal teams juggling multiple projects might struggle to dedicate the necessary time to produce high-quality videos. By outsourcing this task to a dedicated production company, you can free up your internal resources to focus on core activities and strategic initiatives. This increases efficiency and ensures your video projects are completed on time and to a high standard.

Fresh Ideas and Creative Collaboration

An external video production company brings fresh perspectives and creative ideas to the table. A lot of times we see projects completely different which allows us to offer different perspectives, and ideas which can introduce new conversations and ideas. With experience working with a variety of clients across different industries, they have a broad view of what works and what doesn’t. They can provide valuable insights and innovative solutions that your internal team might not have considered, resulting in more engaging and impactful video content.

Scalability and Flexibility

As your business needs evolve, so do your video content demands. A video production company can easily scale their services to match your changing requirements, whether it’s ramping up production for a major campaign or dialing it back during quieter periods. This flexibility ensures you maintain a steady flow of high-quality video content without overburdening your internal team or resources. In addition, video production teams that work on a freelance or contract basis are able to expand or subject their teams on certain projects. Not every project requires a 10-person crew but for when that is necessary, production teams can be formed at a moment’s notice.

Partnering with a video production company is a strategic move offering numerous benefits for your marketing and content teams. It allows you to leverage professional expertise, save time and money, and produce high-quality video content that drives engagement and brand loyalty. By outsourcing video production, you can focus on your core competencies while ensuring your video content stays fresh, innovative, and effective.

Using a Phone to Shoot a Documentary

Learn how to create high-quality branded content with just your smartphone and get in-depth knowledge at how we shot a documentary for Sabrina Carpenter using only the Samsung Galaxy s23!

We used the Samsung Galaxy S23 to Document a Concert with Sabrina Carpenter

In late April, we were contacted by an agency to cover their Philadelphia-based production while they were in town. The scope sounded like a lot of fun, and something different so we were all ears. The kicker: it had to be shot on the Samsung Galaxy S23 as part of a mini-documentary for Sabrina Carpenter on her Emails I Can’t Send tour.

The Technology

Filmmakers all around the world have always relied on high-end professional cameras to capture high-resolution footage for their projects. However, the widespread popularity of smartphone technology around the world has caused a shift in this trend. Now, some of the most creatively and professionally shot films and documentaries are shot on smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone is one of the best in the market, which is why we recently shot a documentary for Sabrina Carpenter solely using this device.

The camera you choose for production is often a major factor when planning a successful production. However, in the case of using a smartphone, not just any phone would do. We chose to use the Samsung Galaxy S23 because of its high-end camera setup that includes a 200MP primary sensor, which captures high-quality images at high resolutions and produces detailed low-light shots.

Stabilization

Stability is another critical aspect to consider when recording using a smartphone such as the Samsung Galaxy S23. Without stabilization, the final video will be shaky, which is not only aesthetically unpleasing but also makes for a difficult viewing experience. The plan was to dive right into the middle of the crowd to capture authentic shots like a fan naturally would. I was immediately worried about how we were going to keep this thing steady. Tripod, gimbal? Nope. Just our hands. As soon as I grabbed my first shot, we all looked at each other and said “Woah”. The stabilization was immediately noticeable and allowed us to get just about any shot we found necessary all while being locked in a crowd of about 3000.

Director Notes

This blog isn’t meant to sound like an ad. We just love talking about new technology. We at Anomaly started our careers on the Sony VX2000 so we’ve really seen it all. I think it’s safe to say we’re finally in a place where it doesn’t matter what you shoot your video production content with. What matters is the story and strategy behind it. We were only given about 24 hours with the phone prior to the start of the shoot so it took no time at all to learn how to use the S23 and to feel comfortable enough to start capturing high-quality video content. We did use external sound with a professional mixer (Steve Sklarow) but besides that, we were pretty barebones. If you’d like to see the finished project, head to the link below and watch it on Sabrina’s YouTube channel and see bits from her entire Emails I Can’t Send tour!
