Samsung Galaxy S23 x Sabrina Carpenter
On-the-ground production for a Shorty Awards-nominated global campaign
The project
When We Are Social and Samsung set out to showcase the Galaxy S23 Ultra's Super Zoom camera by putting it in the hands of Sabrina Carpenter's fans on tour, they needed a production partner who could deliver in Philadelphia — fast, on brand, and ready to move at concert speed.
Anomaly Films was brought on as the production company for the Philadelphia leg of the tour, working directly with We Are Social's creative and account team to execute the local shoot.
The brief
The concept was simple to describe and hard to execute: hand selected superfans a Galaxy S23 Ultra and get them close enough to the stage to capture the kind of detail — Sabrina Carpenter mid-performance, from the crowd — that would normally require a photo pit credential and a $10,000 lens. The Super Zoom feature had to do the work a long lens usually does, in a live concert environment with no do-overs.
What we handled
As production partner for the Philadelphia stop, Anomaly Films was responsible for:
On-the-ground production logistics for the venue day
Working out the practical approach to capturing high-quality concert footage on a smartphone camera, in low light, from crowd positions
Coordinating the shoot in real time alongside We Are Social's creative direction and Samsung's brand requirements
Delivering footage that could be cut into the broader hero documentary, social cut downs, and stills that made up the full campaign
This wasn't a controlled studio environment — it was a live show with one shot at getting it right, which is exactly the kind of production problem Anomaly is built to solve.
The results
The campaign — built from footage across every tour stop, including Philadelphia — became a finalist for a Shorty Award in the Documentary category at the 16th Annual Shorty Awards. Campaign-wide, the work generated:
6 million impressions and over 15,000 minutes watched on the tour documentary
3.5 million views and 370,000 engagements across supporting content
87% positive sentiment across audience comments
These figures reflect the full campaign across all tour stops and platforms, produced with We Are Social and Samsung. Anomaly Films' role was Philadelphia production.
Why it mattered
Brand campaigns built around live music and real fans don't get second takes. Having a production partner on the ground who can adapt fast, work inside someone else's creative vision, and still deliver footage that holds up next to a global brand's standards is what makes projects like this possible for agencies bringing a shoot into a new city.
